The Chalice Well in Glastonbury, England, inspires my collection, titled “Gaea.” Comprised of a natural bed of water pools and wild gardens, the well holds great meaning to many religions. The “famous red spring,” where water is rich in iron, was supposedly where Joseph of Arimathea washed the cup used in the last supper which later became the legend of the Holy Grail.  Long before Christianity, pagan religions treated this place as the most sacred as the red water represented menstrual blood of Mother Earth. The natural surrounding drives the lore as humans personify representation into the environment. The textures and patterns and their intrinsic symbolism in turn inspired this print-driven, womenswear collection.
